Workers' Communist Party of Canada

Wikipedia

The Workers' Communist Party of Canada was a Canada|Canadian political party that nominated candidates in the Canadian federal election, 1972|1972 and Canadian federal election, 1980|1980 general elections. For several years it published a weekly newspaper "The Forge/La Forge". The WCP was strongest in Quebec, but alienated many young Quebec progressive people because it declined to support independence for Quebec, although it did support Quebec's right to self determination.

None of its candidates was elected to the Canadian House of Commons, nor did they receive many votes.

The party followed a Maoist political program, and was influenced by the New Left.
