Moscow Sun Yat-sen University(????????????????????? in Chinese) was a famous training camp of Chinese revolutionists both from Communist Party of China and Kuomintang in the 1920???s and had deep influence in the Chinese modern history.

In 1923 Sun Yat-sen, the founder of KMT began to adopt the policy of alliance with CPC and alliance with Soviet Union after he had experienced times of frustration and realized it was impossible to win a republic in China by relying on secret societies and warlords. Soviet Union and CPC responded with passion and enthusiasm. As part of support, in 1925 the Soviet Union set up Moscow Sun Yat-sen university to train Chinese revolutionists, which was named after Sun to show Soviet Union and CPC???s respect for Sun???s contribution to Chinese revolution. Borodin, the consultant of KMT sent by Soviet Union directed the first enrollment of disciples. These disciples were elites chosen from both CPC and KMT. The main mission of this university was to educate these disciples with Marxism and Leninism, train cadres for mass movement and qualified Bolsheviks.

The instructors mainly came from Soviet Union, among which were old Bolsheviks such as Radek, who was the first president of this university. Because the disciples came from different classes with different backgrounds, some of them being famous communism revolutionists or scholars, some of them being students educated in Chinese high schools or universities, some of them with little education but lots of practices in communism movements. The university grouped these disciples into different levels and gave them different classes according to their education status.

The coursed given by the university focused on the basic theories of Marxism and Leninism, and the summing-up of lessons in international communism movements. Disciples could learn ways and practices of mobilization and propaganda. Besides these skills, the university also gave course on military both on theory and training.

In addition to the courses, there were regular lectures or presentations on international communism movement and Chinese revolution, which were given by leaders or prominent members from Comintern, Soviet Union, CPC, among which were Stalin, Trotsky, Zhang Guotao and Xiang Zhongfa.

Although the term of education was only 2 years, but it had great influences on those who trained there. Among them there were 28 Bolsheviks, Deng Xiaoping, Zuo Quan and other prominent CPC members, also including important members such as KMT Chiang Ching-guo, He Zhonghan, Deng Wenyi, many of them played active roles in the later years of Chinese history.

In 1927 as the CPC-KMT alliance broke up, those disciples form KMT were sent back to China. But this was just the beginning of a storm. With the power struggle between Stalin and Trotsky reached its peak, Radik was sacked and replaced by his deputy Pavel Mif, who was too ambitious to be limited in this campus. Mif himself became the vice director of Far East Department of Comintern and played an important role in the major decisions of CPC. Furthermore, with his prot??g?? of 28 Bolsheviks holding senior positions of CPC, even with the university being closed in 1930 for the failure of policy of alliance with KMT, Mif and the university still made an important page of Chinese modern history.
