Mahjong has been a common culture of East Asia, showing a high degree of Asian value.



In Hong Kong, Mahjong is played in certain celebrating occasions such as a Chinese marriage|Chinese wedding banquet. This is to give the newly-weds a sense of mirth and excitement. A count-down Mahjong before New Year or Chinese New Year is a typical pastime for many Hong Kong families.
