1 Introduction
Lung Fu Shan Country Park

Lung Fu Shan Country Park in Hong Kong, covers the densely vegetated slopes of Lung Fu Shan, including the disused Pinewood Battery as well as the Pinewood Garden picnic area, providing a scenic backdrop to the residential and commercial districts of Hong Kong Island. It is situated at the north of Pok Fu Lam Country Park. Towards the east of Lung Fu Shan Country Park is Hatton Road, to the south is Harlech Road whereas to the north and west is a covered conduit constructed by the Water Supplies Department. This country park covers an area of about 47 hectares and also commands an excellent vistas of the western part of the territory and the Victoria Harbour.

It has two special zones:

  • Recreational Zone ? This zone is mainly consisted of a lookout point at the western end of Harlech Road, a picnic area at the Pinewood Garden in addition to some other recreation sites. Existing recreation facilities in the area will be upgraded from time to time and additional barbecue and picnic facilities will be provided in recreational zones. "Morning Walking" is one of the important recreational activities which is encouraged by the benches, footpaths and shelters at suitable locations. However, unauthorized digging and cutting of hillside by morning walkers will be controlled.


  • Wilderness Zone ? The densely vegetated hilly area belongs to this zone, which provides a scenic background for recreational activities. Within this zone, footpaths will be maintained for leisure walking. The well established woodland is of high conservation and landscape value. In proximity to residential areas in Mid-levels and Central and Western district|Western District, Lung Fu Shan area is intensively used by the public, especially by morning walkers and picnickers.The disused Pinewood Battery is a historic military site constructed in around 1903, and is now under preservation. Interpretive signs will be erected to illustrate the historical significance of this Battery.
