Hong Kong hip hop

Wikipedia

The Hong Kong hip hop scene first began in 1993 with the formation of LMF. Though the success of LMF, the rap group remained to be the only rap group ever signed by a major record label, which was Warner Music. Despite of the popularity of the now disbanded LMF, hip hop music continues to remain underground, led by independent artists, for the mainstream music industry of Hong Kong is still dominated by Cantopop.

However, the presence of hip hop music in Hong Kong in the shadows of Cantopop is strongly reflected by the collaborations between rappers such as MC Yan (from the now disbanded LMF) with popular Cantopop singers such as Edison Chen.
