Garley Building

Wikipedia

Garley Building (traditional Chinese: ????????????) is a 15-storey commercial building in on Nathan Road, in Jordan, Hong Kong|Jordan, Kowloon, Hong Kong. It suffered a catastrophic fire on November 20, 1996, with the loss of 41 lives and 80 injuries, resulting in the single biggest death toll from a fire in Hong Kong in peacetime.

The building was never again occupied after the fire, but was not demolished due to a failure to find all the owners of individual units inside the building. The building was demolished in 2003 after seven years of efforts by its biggest owner, China Resources, to unify title rights to the building.
