The Battle of Wuhan was a major battle in the Second Sino-Japanese War. Japan won the battle with great losses.

After the Battle of Xuzhou, the Japanese army moved south to attack Wuhan. More than 1 million National Revolutionary Army troops were gathered, with Chiang Kai-shek himself in command, to defend Wuhan from the Imperial Japanese Army led by Okamura Yasuji.

After 4 months of violent battles, the Chinese air force and naval force was wiped out, and Japanese occupied Wuhan. However, most of the Chinese Troops survived, and the Japanese army was considerably weakened.
