Battle of Maling

Wikipedia

The Battle of Maling was a battle between the states of Qi (state)|Qi and Wei (state)|Wei in the warring states period.

In 342 BC, the state of Wei attacked the state of State of Han|Han, and Han turned to Qi for help. Again Tian Ji and Sun Bin acted as co-commanders of the Qi army to save Han.

In order to mislead his enemy, Sun Bin ordered his soldiers to make less stoves day by day. As Pang Juan, general of Wei, saw this, he judged the soldiers of Qi were leaving their army and decided to pursue the Qi army. When Pang Juan arrived in Maling, the Qi army launched a surprise attack. Seeing his army defeated under the Qi arrows, Pang Juan killed himself.

Also killed in that war was Prince Shen of Wei. The power of the state of Wei decreased considerably after this battle.
